Hello, Color: Introducing Solid Percale Sheeting in Six New Colors

At first glance, solid-colored sheeting may not seem as thrilling as a bold new print. But think of the possibilities! Now that our Luca 500-thread count percale sheeting is available in five vibrant colors (in addition to white, ivory and champagne), we’ve opened up a whole new range of options for coordinating solid sheets with printed, embroidered, or appliqued styles.

“There are many Matouk customers who only sleep on percale for the crisp and cool experience it provides,” says Matouk CEO George Matouk Jr. “While we have always offered many percale options using white and ivory fabric with couture color detailing, we weren't providing our percale lovers with the richness of solid color that can add a sense of mystery and romance to the bed.”

Up until now, customers who wanted to incorporate a color story into their bedding only had the option of our luminous Nocturne sateen sheeting. Now, they have a counterpoint in Luca, a matte style with a muted, natural, less formal appeal.

Our new Luca palette includes Lavender, Slate, and Birch—three new shades that didn’t have a previous reference point in the collection, but can be coordinated with our new Avelino and Soleri. Luca also comes in Champagne, Azure, and Lagoon, three additional colors that go with a variety of styles in both our classic Matouk and our Lulu DK for Matouk collections. Among them: Lowell, Avelino, AND Nikita.

A bit about Avelino, since you may be hearing about it for the first time here: This new style, introduced alongside the new Luca shades, features a Luca white base with percale accents in the new Luca palette for easy pairing with the solid sheets. What’s more, Avelino can be applique monogrammed with the same Luca percale colors for a graphic, modern look that’s very different from the sateen applique monograms we’ve offered exclusively until now. In keeping with its clean, tailored appeal, Avelino features a narrow two-inch flange with the outer inch as the colored accent. An embroidered satin stitch along the topstich in a matching thread color is a finishing couture touch.

And finally, a note about Nikita: “At some point,” says George Matouk Jr., “we fell into a pattern of thinking that prints were seasonal and summery and not really suitable with layering in with our more tonal fall couture bedding stories. We then realized that our customers were craving print all year long so we decided to offer our Nikita print in fall shades."

Designed by Lulu DK for Matouk, Nikita was inspired by the look of the sun's rays shining directly on water. There’s no doubt you can sense the ripples and shadows in this intriguing print. Introduced for spring in Azure and Lagoon and now available in Champagne and Silver, Nikita is nuanced and tonal. Nikita can be paired with a variety of other items from the Matouk line. Chief among them: our new Luca sheeting. “Nikita has paved a new way of thinking about prints for us and that is very exciting,” says George Matouk Jr.
